Hey there world. I’m Betsy. Welcome to Simple Nutrition!
I am someone that loves food and has always been interested in health and nutrition, but I have also watched so many people, including my mom, struggle with weight and food issues. It is incredibly frustrating that this topic is made to be so complicated when it really doesn’t have to be.
This was the motivation behind this blog. Simply making food and nutrition understandable. Now, don’t get me wrong, there is a multitude of information out there, hence the confusion, but I want to take the information and break it down so it is actually usable and applicable in real life for anyone.
Education
I have a bachelor’s degree in human nutrition and food science and I have completed a dietetic internship. I believe that true knowledge is a combination of education, personal experience, research and ongoing study, especially in a topic like nutrition.
Nutrition is an ever changing field and constant scientific study reveals new insight on a regular basis. So, today coffee is good for you, but tomorrow you need to take it out of your diet, right, ugh! This is what I want to clear up for everyone.
What I’ve been doing with my life
I have worked in school food service most of my career and have learned much about adults, kids and teenagers alike and their food habits and behaviors. This too has been a motivating factor for starting this blog. I have observed on a regular basis how little students and adults know and how they are so confused about the one thing that they have to do for the rest of their lives…EAT! If people don’t understand at least the basics in life, what chance do they have in navigating a healthy lifestyle?
We all have this requirement of eating in common, so stick with me and let’s get started on making sense of it all in a simple understandable way!
